Have a leisurely

GO
WILD BUSHCRAFT CHALLENGE - OUR SIGNATURE ACTIVITY!
Fun-loving
hens will just love our fabulous 'go wild' activity, with our
very own team of 'wild men' Adrian (Ady) Boots, Sean (Silver Fox)
Mulhall, and 'Young' Dave. Take a leisurely pace, or go
for it with a challenging team-building and competitive
style. Great fun, and unique to Bath Hen Weekend.
Go Wild normally involves a leisurely walk, where the boys will
stop & show you all the wild food that you
can eat and you can try the first part of your bushtucker
trial eating nettles, other wild plants and jelly ear!
At your activity site, you will have a fire-lighting challenge
where you each make fire without matches, the aim here
is for everyone to achieve a flaming bundle of hay, it’s
quite an experience and a bit harder than Ray Mears makes it look!
Once the camp fire is going you will make a hot drink over the
fire & have tea/coffee & biscuits. Then you will do the
second part of your bushtucker trial where there
are various things you can try to eat, that are a step up from
nettles (no-one has to do it, but it’s fun) this usually
results in lots of screaming and hysterical laughter!
To end the activity you will learn how to use a bushbow for a
short, fun bush-bow archery competition. The
idea is that you have learned a bit about ‘hunting and gathering’
including wild food & fire-lighting in a beautiful setting,
and had some laughs along the way. It’s not strenuous or
dangerous, but we do have a 4WD for anyone with knee or back injuries
or pregnancy. In summary, it’s a fun team activity, with
quite a lot you can learn about wild camping / survival if your
group is interested. The instructors keep it fairly light
and fun, but if your group is keen you only have to ask
& he will go into more detail for you about the wild food,
natural history, or survival elements.
COMPETITIVE
TARGET ARCHERY
Competitive
groups will love the challenge of learning the ancient art of
target archery. We use proper recurve bows, arrows & targets.
Once you have mastered the skills, it's full-on competition to
see who wins with lots of fun games! This incredibly popular activity
is fantastic fun and works well with small and large groups alike.
Don't tell the boys, but girls just seem to be really good at
this activity. Archery is a brilliant activity, very competitive
and lots of fun. Everyone's doing it at the moment, watch out
for Hawkeye, the master archer in Avengers Assemble showing how
it's done super hero style!
CUP
CAKE DECORATING
Nigella eat
your heart out! Get stuck into these fun activities where you
make & eat your own creations! We are rather unique in that
our Cupcake classes teach you how to make cupcakes from scratch,
you will mix, make & bake which is the fun & laugher bit!
Then you will decorate your own cupcakes using a range of techniques,
including hand-made sugar flowers, this requires a bit of concentration
ladies... Then you get to eat them :) FAB!
PASTA
MAKING
In our pasta
making workshop you'll learn how to make pasta from scratch, and
a fabulous pasta sauce, just like mamma used to make. You'll turn
your pasta into tagliatelli AND ravioli. Oooh, delish! And the
best bit is the tasting/eating afterwards... Served with garlic
bread and lots of laughter! This is a fun, hands-on activity which
will make you rush home to buy a pasta machine.
VINTAGE
ACCESSORIES
Think Kirsty's
home made home. This activity gives you the opportunity to make
a range of vintage style accessories, from a flower brooch to
a hair band and much more. At the moment, Elaine our tutor is
making 'Emma Brennan' (the queen of vintage) bows with our groups
that can be used on a hairband, brooch, etc. Really pretty and
something you can wear or use after the weekend.
GARTER
MAKING
Try a fun-filled
garter-making workshop so you all have something naughty but nice
to wear on your hen night or at the wedding! Learn basic hand
sewing skills and use a variety of lace, ribbon & decorations.
BEAUTY
& PAMPER
How about
a workshop making bath bombs and lip balms? This activity is new
for 2012 and is really proving to be popular, as you will make
something gorgeous and packaged like a professional product. Create
something beautiful to take home, or get inspired to help your
bride make favours for the wedding!
FOOD
& DRINK
From wine
tasting to cocktail making, cider sampling and cheese tastings,
we love great food and have something for everyone!
CATERING
Our local
caterer can deliver delicious hot or cold buffets, afternoon tea
with vintage china, and other catering to your cottage. All our
cottages will receive a supermarket delivery on your behalf (by
arrangement). NEW FOR 2012 - FABULOUS DELIVERED SUSHI
TRANSPORT
A local minibus
service will transfer you safely to & from Bristol or Bath.
ENTERTAINMENT
There are
some great nights out in Bristol or Bath, we particularly like
Komedia in Bath, the coolest comedy club with River Cottage canteen
food and a Motown Club night. Alternatively, make the most of
your cottage with a stylish night in with a fabulous meal &
bubbly or cocktails served by a charming and gorgeous Butler in
the Buff - naughty but nice!
