ABOUT US

We are a small business, and unlike many other hen weekend companies, we own some of the properties you will see on our web site, we're not just an agent relying on other people's resources. Our properties are only available through us to groups, because they either belong to us, or our friends who trust us to find nice groups to use them. We have our own activity company so we can give you a great choice of high quality activities at a sensible price. We get to know you, and we will do our best to give you an unforgettable weekend within your budget. We live within 5-10 minutes of all our properties and we will always ensure you have someone you can contact during your stay if you need help or advice.

MEET THE TEAM

Adrian (Ady) pictured right. Ady is the boss, and runs our Go Wild activities company. He did his degree in Geography & Environmental Management and a Masters in Research and was previously a university lecturer & researcher in conservation & biogeography. He specialises in wild food, archery & bushcraft, and also leads our corporate events. He designs all our outdoor events to make sure that our groups have a great time.

Sean (Silver Fox) pictured left in the middle of a bunch of hens, as normal! Our chief bushcraft & Go Wild instructor, Sean leads our 'I'm a hen get me out of here!' Bush Tucker Trials. He is great fun and it's no wonder our hens love him to bits and request him when they come back a second time!

Elaine (pictured right in purple) leads our Making & Baking activities. Totally creative, Elaine can make a designer outfit from a bit of string and a visit to a charity shop. She also makes fabulous garters, bunting, cushions, and is our makeover mistress! Elaine is a fabulous cook and also leads our pasta making activities, and does cupcake workshops too. Pictured with a group of very happy hens making wedding bunting!

Young Dave ~ new to the team in 2011, Young Dave is a Go Wild instructor and all-round fantastic bloke. He also does archery, climbing, and kayaking, a realy action man!

Jo ~ A qualified aromatherapist & great listener. When not helping us to remain calm under pressure, she runs the coolest bars we have ever seen. Jo is able to make a cocktail party out of a bottle of vodka, a bit of soda and a lemon. Everything she does involves dressing up, funky themes, mirror balls, fairy lights and great music.

Jackie ~ Making & Baking activities. Jackie is our cupcake queen, tantalising your tastebuds and encouraging you to have a go at doing something for yourself, whether it's making a carrot cake or knitting a fabulous scarf. In her spare time Jackie helps brides with their wedding dresses and girls with their first prom dress.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

CHARITY SUPPORT

Bath Hen Weekend is this year sponsoring Yellow Submarine, an award-winning young charity providing holidays and respite for young people and children with learning difficulties, autism and down's syndrome.

This year we are providing Yellow Submarine with two holidays, one for young girls (a pamper holiday) and one for children (at Easter) both are at trade/cost from all our suppliers and BHW's services and our own in-house activities are provided free of charge. We would like to thank Tracy & Steve, owners of The Farmhouse, for providing their stunning property at cost to help Yellow Submarine.

Please visit Yellow Submarine's web site and donate if you feel able. www.yellowsubmarine.org.uk

Our activity company supports Survival International on an ongoing basis. All fees from Adrian's speaking engagements to non-profit organisations are donated to Survival.

GREEN POLICY

It's not too hard for us to be green - all our properties and activities are within 5 minutes drive of our office (and all our own properties are within walking distance of our activities), we are close to fantastic public transport links, we use local suppliers including local produce, accommodation, transport, activities, etc. If you want a virtually carbon neutral hen weekend, we're the place for it!

In our own activities and properties we meet high standards of environmental friendliness, using Ecover cleaning products, energy saving fuels including all our electricity from Ecotricity, and we operate extensive recycling practices from recycled paper in the office to composting food waste on site at our own properties. We even grow fresh herbs & flowers on site for the groups in our own properties! From longlife lightbulbs to rainwater recycling, we are getting better all the time at conserving energy & natural resources.

Our 'in-house' activities are all about helping our groups have fun, but also enabling them to learn new skills. Whether lighting a fire in the woods without matches, foraging for wild food, learning how to shoot, making pasta from scratch, baking home-made cupcakes or creating wonderful vintage style accessories with scraps of fabric and bits of ribbon, we hope our groups go away from our weekends inspired to make and do more for themselves.
